The candle mirror dismissal
A candle mirror working with projection and the heat created by watching yourself to remove an unwanted influence from your own space, habits, or attention.
Meaning and practice
The central tension is projection and the heat created by watching yourself. A mirror beside an unlit candle separates self-scrutiny from illumination. For this reason, the rite does not end with the spoken charge. Its result is measured by whether you can answer “Are you meeting your own gaze or performing beneath it?” with a concrete choice.
Write what you believe others see, then mark what you actually know. That demand is what distinguishes this candle mirror rite from another dismissal: its conclusion depends on the specific problem carried by a small intact mirror and an unlit candle, not on a generic promise of change.

The source records historical uses and meanings of objects in the same family as a small intact mirror and an unlit candle. A mirror beside an unlit candle separates self-scrutiny from illumination. This working applies that documented motif to remove an unwanted influence from your own space, habits, or attention; its wording and sequence are original to Okkult.
What you’ll need
- A small intact mirror and an unlit candle
- A dark cloth large enough to cover the mirror
- A stable candle holder
- A card and pencil
- A length of white chalk
- A damp cloth
The ritual
- Inspect the mirror for cracks, leave the candle unlit, and angle both so the glass cannot concentrate direct sunlight. Arrange the workspace specifically for this dismissal, removing anything that will not be used.
- Draw a short route from the ritual object to the edge of the working surface and ask: “Are you meeting your own gaze or performing beneath it?”
- Angle the mirror so the unlit candle and written intention appear together. Move a small intact mirror and an unlit candle one deliberate step toward the exit and leave its former position empty.
- Move the written influence along the route, speak “Your place is elsewhere; this space returns to me,” then wipe the route away from you. Write what you believe others see, then mark what you actually know.
- Cover the mirror, move the candle away, and store both safely. Move the written influence toward an exit, recycle it, and change one habit that invited its return.
