The silver bowl dismissal
A silver bowl working with the difference between an honest reflection and a rehearsed self-image to remove an unwanted influence from your own space, habits, or attention.
Meaning and practice
The silver bowl form approaches remove an unwanted influence from your own space, habits, or attention through the difference between an honest reflection and a rehearsed self-image. The empty bowl reflects only fragments, making incompleteness part of the reading. That symbolism gives the rite its limit: the object can expose a decision, but only the following action can carry it into life.
Name the fact you have edited out of your own account and give it one unqualified sentence. That demand is what distinguishes this silver bowl rite from another dismissal: its conclusion depends on the specific problem carried by a small reflective bowl, not on a generic promise of change.

The source records historical uses and meanings of objects in the same family as a small reflective bowl. The empty bowl reflects only fragments, making incompleteness part of the reading. This working applies that documented motif to remove an unwanted influence from your own space, habits, or attention; its wording and sequence are original to Okkult.
What you’ll need
- A small reflective bowl
- Enough clean water to cover the base of the bowl
- A white hand towel
- A narrow paper strip and waterproof pen
- A plain paper bag
- A removable black label
The ritual
- Wash and dry the bowl, then set it on the folded towel where reflected light is visible but not dazzling. Arrange the workspace specifically for this dismissal, removing anything that will not be used.
- Write the influence on the label rather than on the bag; this keeps removal possible and deliberate. Keep this question visible while you work: “What becomes visible when you stop arranging the answer for an audience?”
- Place the folded intention in the bowl and turn the bowl once clockwise. Move a small reflective bowl one deliberate step toward the exit and leave its former position empty.
- Stick the label inside, close the bag once, and say “Your place is elsewhere; this space returns to me.” Remove and destroy the label before reusing the bag. Name the fact you have edited out of your own account and give it one unqualified sentence.
- Remove the paper, wipe the bowl clean, and return it to ordinary use. Move the written influence toward an exit, recycle it, and change one habit that invited its return.
