THE GRIMOIRE / PROTECTION

The sun coin ward

A sun coin working with exchange, value, and the story attached to payment to reinforce a boundary around your home, work, body, or attention.

Meaning and practice

A ward becomes useful when its boundary can be named. Decide what the protected space permits, what it refuses, and how you will respond when that line is tested. Here, the distinctive work belongs to a clean coin. A common coin carries both practical value and countless previous exchanges. Its meaning becomes useful only when the question is answered directly: “What are you willing to spend, and what must never be bought?”

Set a real limit in money, time, or attention before asking for gain. That demand is what distinguishes this sun coin rite from another ward: its conclusion depends on the specific problem carried by a clean coin, not on a generic promise of change.

The Book of Talismans, Amulets and Zodiacal Gems

William Thomas and Kate Pavitt · 1922

The source records historical uses and meanings of objects in the same family as a clean coin. A common coin carries both practical value and countless previous exchanges. This working applies that documented motif to reinforce a boundary around your home, work, body, or attention; its wording and sequence are original to Okkult.

What you’ll need

  • A clean coin
  • A square of yellow cloth
  • A ledger card and pencil
  • A cup of clean water
  • A clean paintbrush

The ritual

  1. Wash and dry the coin, then place it on the yellow cloth in daylight. Use ordinary room light if direct sun would overheat the surface. Arrange the workspace specifically for this ward, removing anything that will not be used.
  2. Write the protected place or practice and the conduct it refuses. Keep “What are you willing to spend, and what must never be bought?” visible.
  3. Place the coin in a patch of daylight, then set it over the written intention. Turn a clean coin toward the boundary being kept and identify the point where exchange, value, and the story attached to payment could weaken it.
  4. Dip the brush once and paint an unbroken water line around the central object. Say “This boundary is known, kept, and respected” before the line dries, then set a real limit in money, time, or attention before asking for gain.
  5. Carry the coin for a day before returning it to ordinary circulation. Name one practical protection you will put in place today.
