THE GRIMOIRE / SEX MAGICK

The clear water desire rite

A clear water working with clarity disturbed by the slightest contact to work directly with erotic desire, shame, hunger, fantasy, power, and release.

Meaning and practice

Sex magick does not need to be sweet, romantic, or reassuring. A working may face lust, envy, humiliation, obsession, resentment, grief, or the wish to be wanted. Name the appetite and the cost without pretending either is prettier than it is. Here, the distinctive work belongs to a bowl of clean water. Clear water reveals every ripple and refuses the fiction of unaffected observation. Its meaning becomes useful only when the question is answered directly: “What appears calm only because nobody has touched it?”

Name the intervention that would test whether the situation is truly stable. That demand is what distinguishes this clear water rite from another desire rite: its conclusion depends on the specific problem carried by a bowl of clean water, not on a generic promise of change.

Sources behind this working

Folklore of Scottish Lochs and Springs

James M. Mackinlay · 1893

The source records historical uses and meanings of objects in the same family as a bowl of clean water. Clear water reveals every ripple and refuses the fiction of unaffected observation. This working applies that documented motif to work directly with erotic desire, shame, hunger, fantasy, power, and release; its wording and sequence are original to Okkult.

What you’ll need

  • A bowl of clean water
  • A small pouring jug
  • A lint-free towel
  • Two consent cards
  • A black pen
  • A red pen

The ritual

  1. Rinse the bowl, fill it from the jug, and wait until every visible ripple has stopped before writing. Arrange the workspace specifically for this desire rite, removing anything that will not be used.
  2. Record the erotic truth you want to claim, confront, negotiate, or end, written without euphemism on the tag, card, label, or paper provided. Use black for the desire and red for every limit. In partnered work, each adult fills a separate card and may stop without explanation. Keep this question visible while you work: “What appears calm only because nobody has touched it?”
  3. Place the paper beside the bowl and circle one finger above the water without touching it. Decide whether a bowl of clean water represents appetite, limit, or aftermath in this rite, then place it where it can be reached without fumbling.
  4. Place the cards where they remain readable. Charge through solo or mutually agreed touch, stop at any red limit, and say “My desire is mine to name, give, withhold, or end” only for your own intention. Name the intervention that would test whether the situation is truly stable.
  5. Pour the water into a houseplant or outdoor soil and dry the bowl. Decide whether the desire needs expression, negotiation, distance, or burial, then take the honest next step.
