The ancestor-thread seal
Bind a chosen family name to remembrance, continuity, and the values you intend to carry.
What you’ll need
- One drop of your own blood already available from routine medical testing or menstruation
- A cotton swab
- Red cotton thread
- A family name written on paper
- A small box
The ritual
- Write the family or ancestral name and one value you choose to continue beneath it.
- Place a single blood mark beside your own name, then let it dry completely.
- Wind the red thread around the paper and tie one knot for remembrance and one for responsibility.
- Seal and discard the swab, then store the dry bundle in the small box with family keepsakes.
