The kinship remembrance knot
Honor a consenting family or chosen-family bond through blood, names, and a shared value.
What you’ll need
- One drop of your own blood already available from routine medical testing or menstruation
- A cotton swab
- Two paper strips
- Red thread
- A keepsake box
The ritual
- Write your name on one strip and the consenting person’s name on the other, with the shared value beneath both.
- Place one blood mark only on your own strip and allow it to dry completely.
- Lay the strips together and tie them with red thread in a loose knot that can be opened.
- Seal and discard the swab, then store the bundle in the keepsake box and untie it if either person withdraws the bond.
