The salt-bowl omen
Trace a path through salt to expose the obstacle, aid, and next step around a question.
What you’ll need
- A shallow dark bowl
- Coarse salt
- Three small tokens
The ritual
- Pour a thin layer of salt into the bowl and assign the tokens to obstacle, aid, and next step.
- Hide the tokens in your closed hands, mix them, and drop them one at a time onto the salt.
- Draw one continuous line through all three tokens, beginning at the edge nearest you.
- Read the order you reached them and the shape of the path. Record where the route felt direct and where it turned.
