The ink-in-water oracle
Release a single drop of color into water and read the branches, veils, and empty spaces.
What you’ll need
- A clear glass bowl
- Water
- Washable ink or food coloring
- White paper
The ritual
- Set the water-filled bowl over the white paper and let the surface become completely still.
- Ask one question, then release a single drop of ink or coloring into the center.
- Watch without stirring as the color descends and opens. Name the first shape, creature, or landscape you recognize.
- Sketch the final pattern before emptying the bowl. Write what the image appears to approach and what it leaves open.
